A chilling security video from Brazil has gone viral once again, capturing the moment a 42-year-old man struggled to haul a heavy suitcase up two flights of stairs, with a kidnapped 12-year-old schoolgirl trapped inside.
The footage, first widely reported in 2023, shows Daniel Moraes Bittar dragging the suitcase through the streets and into his apartment building in Luziania after he and his then-22-year-old girlfriend allegedly snatched the child from outside her school. Authorities say the pair forced the girl into a car, threatened her with a knife, and rendered her unconscious before stuffing her into the suitcase for transport.
Police later found the victim inside the apartment, handcuffed, injured, and showing clear signs of abuse. Officers also recovered electric shock devices and camera equipment from the scene. The girl was rescued the same day after a quick-thinking school friend who witnessed the abduction alerted authorities, allowing police to track the suspects and intervene before the situation turned even more tragic.
Bittar, who reportedly admitted to “pedophilic inclinations,” was arrested along with his girlfriend, Gesielly Souza Vieira. The couple faced serious charges including aggravated unlawful restraint, sexual abuse of a minor, and torture. In 2024, Bittar was sentenced to 45 years and nine months in prison. His accomplice received 29 years and two months.
The video remains deeply disturbing years later, a stark reminder of the predators who target children in broad daylight. Brazilian police have described the case as one of the more shocking they have encountered, noting the calculated nature of the crime and the evidence recovered at the apartment.
Parents and communities are once again being urged to stay vigilant. The rapid response by the school friend and local officers proved decisive in saving the young victim from further harm. Justice has been served in the form of lengthy prison terms, but the images of a man calmly dragging that suitcase continue to horrify viewers worldwide.
