Ana Beatriz Godoy, 25, admitted she ‘can’t even parallel park’ – yet pulled off the manoeuvre of a lifetime after being T-boned at busy intersection.
A young Brazilian woman has become an internet sensation after her car was sent spinning out of control following a crash – only for her to execute a near-perfect parallel park straight into a dealership showroom without hitting a single vehicle.
Security camera footage from the centre of Bauru, in São Paulo state, captures the astonishing moment on the afternoon of Tuesday 18 August that has left viewers worldwide gasping in disbelief.
Ana Beatriz Godoy, 25, was driving her Ford Ka along Rua Antônio Alves when another car failed to stop at the obligatory halt on the intersecting Rua Marcondes Salgado and smashed into the side of her vehicle.
The impact sent her car careering across the pavement, past a bus stop and straight into the outdoor showroom of a local car dealership, where, against all odds, it slid neatly into a vacant parking space between two shiny vehicles on display.
Miraculously, her car came to a halt just centimetres – or as the dealership manager put it, ‘three fingers’ – from the neighbouring cars. Not a single panel was scratched on the expensive stock, and no pedestrians were hit despite the busy location
.Staff rushed to help the shaken driver out of her vehicle. Remarkably, neither she nor the other motorist involved suffered any injuries.
Speaking afterwards, the stunned Miss Godoy could only laugh at the sheer improbability of it all. ‘I can’t even do a parallel park to park normally – imagine parking like this,’ she told local television.
In a later interview, she revealed an even more extraordinary detail: three months earlier she had a recurring nightmare about a similar crash. ‘It was like a dream,’ she said. ‘The memory of that nightmare made me brake.’
