Forget the weekend warrior with a broom. This looks like a trained animal control officer doing the dirty work most of us would never touch.
The video making the rounds shows a guy using a catch pole like it’s an extension of his arm, wrangling two pissed-off raccoons on a regular sidewalk and stuffing them into a wire cage trap.
One raccoon is already in the mix when the handler starts working the second one. The pole keeps the animal at a safe distance while it hisses, twists, and tries to bolt. At one point the officer’s tattooed hands are right on the critter, guiding it toward the open trap as it fights every inch.
By the end he’s dragging the loaded cage down the pavement like it’s just another day at the office.
That’s the part people miss. This isn’t some random dude playing hero. This is the job. Animal control officers deal with this exact scene more often than anyone wants to admit — raccoons in garages, attics, under porches, and yes, wandering the sidewalk like they own the block.
Two at once turns the stress level up to eleven. Raccoons are strong, fast, and equipped with teeth and claws that can do real damage. They don’t freeze when they’re scared. They come at you. Professionals know how to use the pole to control the head and keep those teeth away from flesh. One slip and you’re looking at stitches, a possible rabies protocol, and a mountain of paperwork.
The video captures that tension without the Hollywood polish. No dramatic music. Just a guy in work clothes staying calm while two masked bandits do everything they can to ruin his afternoon.
Ugly, necessary, and a little bit impressive. Just another day in the raccoon wars.
