HORROR AT THE PUMP:Young Indian Worker Killed Instantly As CNG Hose Explodes And Metal Nozzle Smashes Into His Skull, Just Two Months Before His Wedding

A 24-year-old petrol pump worker was killed in a freak accident after a high-pressure CNG hose burst and sent a metal nozzle flying into the back of his head, in a tragedy caught on CCTV that has left his family devastated.

Tushar Khamri was on night duty at the RK Jain Bharat Petroleum station on Sakchi-Kalimati Road in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, when the horror unfolded around 10.40pm on 27 August. He was filling a car with compressed natural gas when the hose suddenly ruptured with a deafening bang.

The force of the blast ripped the heavy nozzle free. It smashed into the back of Tushar’s head with such violence that he was thrown several feet and collapsed on the forecourt. Colleagues rushed him to Tata Main Hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead.

Shocking CCTV footage shows the sudden explosion, the hose whipping wildly and Tushar crumpling to the ground as panic erupted around him. Customers and staff fled in terror, abandoning their vehicles amid fears of a larger blast and a major gas leak. A GAIL technical team later battled to stop the leak.

Tushar, from Sonari, was the sole breadwinner for his family. His wedding was just two months away. Relatives have been left heartbroken, describing him as a young man working night shifts to support them.

The pump was sealed. Officials from PESO and GAIL are investigating whether excessive pressure or poor maintenance caused the hose to fail. Police initially registered no FIR, though a former BJP politician demanded a murder case against the operator and threatened a hunger strike if adequate compensation was not paid.

Reports say the family later received compensation of between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 18 lakh, plus assurances of further help from GAIL and settlement of Tushar’s dues.

The incident has renewed questions about safety at India’s growing network of CNG stations. High-pressure hoses and nozzles require regular inspection; a single failure can turn a routine refill into a deadly projectile in seconds.
