A chaotic and violent fight erupted in the hallway of Miami Northwestern Senior High School on Monday, leaving two students hospitalized after the altercation turned into a stabbing, according to Miami Fire Rescue and Miami-Dade Schools Police.
Shaky cellphone footage circulating online shows a group of students punching, throwing, and stomping on a victim on the floor as others run through the hallway amid yelling. Witnesses in the video can be heard shouting that someone had a knife. Local news reports describe two people appearing to team up to attack another student before the situation escalated.
Miami Fire Rescue units responded just before 12:30 p.m. to the school at 1100 NW 71st Street. Crews found an 18-year-old with a stab wound who was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition. A 15-year-old was also treated for a laceration to the hand and taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools confirmed the incident was addressed by school administration and Miami-Dade Schools Police, resulting in criminal charges. Officials have not released details on who faces charges or the specific offenses. The district issued a statement saying it takes student and staff safety seriously and remains committed to a secure environment.
The video has drawn intense attention on social media, where posters described it as a group of Black students brutally beating a White student, including stomping on his head. Mainstream local outlets reported the hallway brawl as student-on-student violence without mentioning the racial makeup of those involved.
Miami Northwestern Senior High has a history of fights captured on video in recent years, including bathroom beatings and other hallway altercations that led to arrests and increased police presence. Parents and community members have previously called for stronger discipline and security after similar incidents. School officials have not identified the students involved or released further details on the circumstances that led to the stabbing. The investigation remains ongoing.
