A discount-store worker in Puebla, Mexico, just pulled off the kind of split-second save that belongs in a movie, and social media is roasting the kid’s parents for treating him like the help.
Security cameras at El Rey del Ahorro on Avenida 11 Sur in Castillotla captured the near-miss Sunday afternoon. The employee, still unnamed, was outside stacking boxes and wrangling equipment when a little girl broke away from her family and sprinted straight into live traffic.
Her mother gave chase. She didn’t make it. The woman slipped and went down at the edge of the roadway while the girl kept running into the middle of one of Puebla’s busier streets.
That’s when the clerk dropped everything.
He bolted across the lot, into the lane, and grabbed the child just as a van bore down. Witnesses and later reports say he even waved the driver off before yanking the girl out of the kill zone and handing her back to her family.
The whole thing lasted seconds. One wrong beat and it was a funeral.
The clip, first blasted out by local crime page Página Negra and cameraman Mundo Velázquez, exploded overnight. By Monday morning it had hundreds of thousands of views and a familiar internet verdict: the guy’s a hero; the adults are a disgrace.
Commenters hammered the family for letting a small child roam next to a four-lane road and, worse, in the court of X for barely acknowledging the man who just risked getting flattened himself. “Not even a thank you,” one popular reply fumed. Another: “He ate pavement so their kid wouldn’t. They walked off.”
Nobody’s released the worker’s name. Store cameras, local outlets and viral posts all describe the same scene: an ordinary guy doing his shift, then suddenly doing the job the parents weren’t.
Puebla traffic is unforgiving. 11 Sur at Castillotla isn’t a sleepy side street. The clerk didn’t wait for permission, a whistle, or a cop. He just ran.
That’s the story. One man moved. Everyone else is arguing about manners.
