Shocking security camera footage has captured the split-second moment a truck driver cheated death by hurling himself from his runaway vehicle just before it careered off a steep road and into a ravine.
The dramatic scenes unfolded on Monday morning in northern Samaria, also known as Shomron, when a heavy concrete pump truck lost control while thundering downhill.
In the astonishing clip, the massive yellow boom truck can be seen gathering speed before clipping a parked vehicle and smashing through a concrete barrier. With the cab seconds from going over the edge, the driver flings open the door and jumps, rolling across the tarmac as the truck continues on its terrifying path and topples into the drop below.
Remarkably, the unnamed driver scrambled back to his feet almost immediately and walked away without a scratch. Stunned residents and passing motorists rushed to the scene to help him after the near-disaster.
The footage, which has rapidly spread online, shows the truck’s enormous pump arm flipping violently as it leaves the road. Other workers in high-visibility vests can later be seen approaching the wreckage.
Emergency services were not needed for injuries. The incident appears to have been a straightforward loss of control on a steep stretch of road rather than anything more sinister.
The clip has left viewers gasping at how close the driver came to being trapped inside as the vehicle went over. One local news account described it as a “miracle” that he timed his jump so perfectly.
The driver has not been publicly identified. Authorities have not yet released further details on what caused the truck to accelerate out of control.
