CTV footage has captured the terrifying moment a construction worker, completely absorbed in his mobile phone, stepped straight into a massive unprotected opening in the floor of a building under renovation.
The clip, shared on X by Vietnamese streamer Chau Le, shows the man in a blue shirt and sandals casually strolling across a tiled interior while glued to his screen. He appears utterly unaware of the large rectangular void right beside him, described in the original post as a “skylight” opening, until his foot finds empty air.
One minute of distraction, a lifetime of regret, the poster warned in Vietnamese, urging viewers not to become addicted to their phones and to treat them only as tools.
The footage is as grim as it is avoidable. Other workers can be seen nearby, one hauling a metal ladder, another standing by glass doors. None of them appear to have taped off, barriered or even marked the dangerous hole in what looks like a high-end residential or commercial fit-out with marble-effect flooring and large windows.
