This is the heart-stopping moment a giant bulk carrier slams into a far smaller fishing vessel in one of the world's busiest shipping lanes, captured in raw, chaotic footage that has left viewers gasping.
The video, filmed by terrified crew aboard the Chinese-flagged Luqing Yuanyu 108, shows the 229-metre Panama-registered First Margaux looming like a floating skyscraper. Its rust-streaked bow fills the entire frame as it bears down at speed.
Then comes the impact.
White water explodes over the fishing boat's railings. Crew members scramble and grab whatever they can as the deck floods. One man in camouflage trousers stands frozen at the side, staring up at the oncoming wall of steel. Others shout as the smaller vessel is shoved sideways and waves crash over the wooden walkway.
The size difference is staggering. The First Margaux stretches the length of two football pitches and can carry more than 82,000 tonnes. The fishing boat is just 49 metres long – a minnow next to a whale.

So far there has been no official confirmation of deaths or serious injuries. Authorities have yet to release a full statement on the incident, which took place in one of the planet's most crowded sea routes.
The video has spread rapidly online, with many calling it one of the most frightening ship collisions captured on camera in years. Viewers described feeling physically sick watching the tiny boat disappear under the shadow of the giant.
The First Margaux, built in 2023, was reportedly heading toward Singapore when the collision occurred. The fishing vessel dates from 2014.
Investigators will now examine navigation logs, radar data and witness accounts to determine how two ships came so dangerously close in such a well-monitored stretch of water.
For the men on that fishing boat, it was a few minutes of pure terror they will never forget.
