Some drivers have already opened their doors and stepped out onto the carriageway in disbelief. Others sit honking as the group dance, swagger and strike poses directly in the path of oncoming traffic.
The men, many wearing matching white shorts and tops, occupy at least two lanes of the elevated road. Scooters and mopeds are scattered around them like stage props. The tailback snakes through the Milan suburbs under an overcast sky, with traffic completely frozen on one carriageway while the opposite side continues to flow.
