A police officer simply going about his duties was left dripping wet after a motorist apparently decided the temptation of a giant roadside puddle was too good to resist.
The clip, which has exploded across social media after being shared on X, shows the view from a driver’s dashcam as the vehicle approaches a large pool of water on what appears to be a British A-road at dusk. A figure in a high-visibility yellow vest, widely identified by viewers as a police officer, stands on the verge nearby.
Rather than slowing down or steering around the water, the car maintains speed and ploughs straight through. A towering wall of dirty water erupts, completely drenching the officer.
Viewers were split between those howling with laughter and others pointing out that deliberately soaking someone can land a driver in hot water of their own. One popular reply simply quoted the officer’s imagined reaction: “‘I’ve been splashed!’ I don’t think you have mate.”
Another commenter admitted: “3-4 years ago, I’d have been pissed at someone doing this. 2026 – I’ll allow it.”
Under UK road traffic law, driving without reasonable consideration for other road users, including pedestrians and officers on the verge, can attract a fixed penalty or, in more serious cases, a fine of up to £5,000 and points on a licence. Police have previously issued warnings after similar splash videos went viral.
