A blood-soaked Queens man plunged from the roof of a seven-story Far Rockaway apartment building Wednesday after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend to death inside their home, disturbing video shows.
The shocking footage, shot from street level around midday, captures a man in dark clothing pacing along the edge of the roof of the building on Neilson Street near Dinsmore Avenue. He moves back and forth near the ledge for several seconds as onlookers below watch, then steps off and falls toward the street.
Cops and sources said the 32-year-old suspect had just fatally stabbed 31-year-old Pheona Premraj inside their second-floor apartment. Officers responding to a 911 call about a man on the roof found him covered in blood. They tried to talk him down, but he jumped anyway.
Premraj was discovered unconscious with multiple stab wounds to her face, neck, chest and abdomen. A knife was found next to her body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect landed hard and was rushed to Mount Sinai South Nassau in critical condition with injuries that included slash wounds to his wrists, ankles and torso, law enforcement sources said. He remained hospitalized and had not been charged as of Thursday.
Neighbors told reporters the couple had lived in the building for years and could often be heard arguing. One resident said the fighting started about three years ago after they first moved in.
The video, which circulated widely online Thursday, shows the man briefly leaning over the edge before the fall. Street-level businesses, including a furniture store, are visible in the background as the camera follows him downward.
Police sources described the stabbing as a domestic assault. The couple shared the apartment. No other suspects were sought.
The dramatic rooftop plunge is what ultimately led investigators to the second-floor unit, sources said, after the building superintendent pointed officers to the jumper’s residence.
