Family's Brazilian Getaway Turns Into a Poolside Siege Straight Out of The Omen as Two Rottweilers Trap Them in the Water

A family of five expecting nothing more than a quiet holiday at a rented house in Brazil found themselves stuck in the middle of a swimming pool, clinging to each other while two large Rottweilers paced the edge of the water.

Security camera footage shows the moment the black-coated dogs appeared without warning on the pool deck. The family, already in or near the water, immediately bunched together in the centre of the pool rather than risk climbing out. One dog moved along the near edge, head lowered, while the second stood farther back on the far side, watching. The group stayed put, shifting only slightly as the animals moved, until a neighbour who knew the dogs arrived and led them away. No one was hurt.

The dogs belonged to the property owner and had not been disclosed to the renters beforehand. According to local reports from early 2025, the family only realised the animals were loose once they were already at the house. With the dogs between them and the steps, the pool became the only available barrier. Neighbours later said the Rottweilers were normally kept as guard dogs on the property and responded to familiar people once called.

Viewers of the short clip have repeatedly compared the scene to the 1976 horror film The Omen. In the movie, Rottweilers appear as silent, ominous escorts around Damien, the Antichrist child, heightening the sense that something malevolent is close by. The combination of the dogs’ sudden arrival, their dark coats, and the way they ringed the trapped family produced a similar visual for many who watched the footage. One commenter noted that the animals looked “exactly like the ones that show up when everything starts going wrong in the film.”

The episode has circulated again in recent days on social media, often accompanied by the same observation. While the actual incident ended without injury once the neighbour intervened, the video still captures a raw few seconds of uncertainty: a family on holiday, water up to their chests, and two powerful dogs deciding how close they wanted to get.

Holiday rental platforms and local Brazilian outlets later used the case to underline a basic point, if a property comes with guard dogs, that information needs to be clear before guests arrive. In this instance, the dogs did not enter the water, and the family was able to wait them out. Still, the brief window of the recording is enough to explain why so many people instantly reached for the same film reference.
