MONTERREY, Mexico — Ernesto Chavana decided the best way to deal with a production drone hovering near his set was to wind up and kick the thing like he was clearing a soccer ball out of the box. The drone, predictably, did not appreciate the assist. It rocketed upward and drilled model Isabella Rojas square in the face on live television during Es Show on Multimedios Canal 6.

The clip, which spread across social media Tuesday, shows the longtime host in a light blue suit standing on the brightly lit stage with a lineup of dancers and models behind him. A small black drone sits on the floor in front of the group. Chavana, holding a microphone, takes a couple of steps, plants, and launches a full-leg kick into the drone. The device leaves the ground, sails toward the women, and smacks Rojas, known on the show as La Colombiana, in the mouth and face. She immediately doubles over, hands to her face, as the rest of the cast reacts with a mix of shock, open mouths, and people rushing in to check on her. She leaves the set in visible pain.

According to reports from the network and local coverage, Rojas received medical attention off-camera. She later posted on Instagram showing a relatively minor injury to her upper lip and indicated she was okay. Multimedios said she “se encuentra bien” and that Chavana would cover the medical costs and any damages. Chavana has apologized, per multiple accounts of the aftermath. Social media reactions have been less generous, with plenty of viewers calling the kick unnecessary and questioning why he didn’t immediately go over to help.

Es Show is a late-night variety program heavy on humor, models, and the kind of loose energy that has kept Chavana on Monterrey television for decades. Drones are common on sets for aerial shots and production flair; this one ended up in the middle of the stage during a live segment. Accounts differ slightly on the exact trigger, some describe Chavana as annoyed by the drone’s position and asking for it to be moved before the kick, but the video leaves little doubt about the contact or the result.

The moment has already drawn the usual cycle of online commentary: clips circulating with captions highlighting the lack of immediate concern from the host, arguments over whether it was pure carelessness or something more heated, and the predictable pile-on. Production has framed it as an accident that Chavana is taking responsibility for. Rojas’s update suggests the physical damage was limited, which is the one piece of good news in a clip that otherwise looks exactly as dumb as it sounds.

Chavana has been a fixture in regional Mexican television long enough that this isn’t his first viral moment, but drone-to-face is a new one. The show continues, the model is recovering, and the internet has the footage. That’s usually how these things go.
