A 22-year-old Alabama man learned the hard way that you don’t throw boiling coffee in a security guard’s face and then beat him with his own gun magazine, not if that guard is packing heat.
Jacorey McIntosh of Toxey, Alabama, was shot three times outside Nashville’s Greyhound bus station early Sunday morning after launching a vicious, unprovoked attack on 39-year-old armed security officer Douglas West, police said.
Surveillance video captured the entire chaotic brawl, which began around 7:25 a.m. on Rep. John Lewis Way South. West had already ordered McIntosh to leave the station about 45 minutes earlier, but the younger man came back swinging.
McIntosh hurled a cup of scalding-hot coffee directly into West’s face, then charged him repeatedly, according to Metro Nashville police. The two men grappled as West was knocked to the ground twice. McIntosh climbed on top of the guard and used a firearm magazine that had fallen from West’s security vest to smash him in the head over and over while allegedly threatening to kill him.
A second security guard jumped in to help, but McIntosh broke free. West managed to get back on his feet, drew his gun, and opened fire the moment McIntosh made another aggressive move toward him. Three rounds struck the attacker in the hip and leg.
West stayed on scene until police arrived. He was treated for facial burns and contusions. McIntosh was rushed to a hospital, survived the shooting, and was later booked into jail on a felony aggravated assault charge with a $10,000 bond. No weapon was found on him.
Investigators say multiple cameras recorded the entire incident and that McIntosh was repeatedly told to leave well before the shooting. West, who works for STM Security, has not been charged. The case is still under review with the District Attorney’s office regarding the self-defense question.
In the raw video circulating online, the fight erupts in seconds — coffee flies, punches land, and then the sharp crack of gunfire ends the one-sided beating. McIntosh is seen running before collapsing behind a vehicle as bystanders react.
Police confirmed the sequence matches what West told detectives. For the man who started the fight by scalding a uniformed guard and then beating him with the guard’s own ammo, the outcome was three bullets and an aggravated assault charge.
The Nashville bus station attack is the latest viral example of a confrontation that escalated from a refused order to leave into a gunfight captured on camera.
