Illegal Alien Released by Biden Regime and Sanctuary New York Charged with Kidnapping, Stabbing 15-Year-Old Girl in Baltimore

Shocking surveillance video shows teen fleeing basement after alleged attack that left her with a collapsed lung; ICE lodges detainer

BALTIMORE — A 23-year-old illegal immigrant from Sierra Leone, previously released into the United States by the Biden administration and later freed by New York authorities despite an ICE detainer, has been charged with kidnapping and attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a 15-year-old girl in a Baltimore basement, according to court documents and the Department of Homeland Security.

Abubakarr Barrie faces nine charges, including attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping, assault, and false imprisonment, in connection with the October 22 attack. He is being held without bail. ICE lodged a detainer shortly after his arrest, urging Maryland authorities not to release him.

According to charging documents and local reporting, the teenager accepted a ride from Barrie in what she described as a “hack”—an unlicensed taxi service—near Druid Hill Park or McCulloh Street. She told him she was trying to reach a carry-out restaurant called PlattaKing on Belair Road in northeast Baltimore. When she noticed he was driving in the opposite direction and confronted him, Barrie allegedly became violent, placing her in a headlock while she was still in the vehicle.

He then drove her to a home at 3705 Garrison Boulevard in northwest Baltimore, where he was renting a basement room. Prosecutors say he forced her out of the car, pushed her down steps into the basement, ordered her to put down her phone and not scream, ripped off her clothes, and stabbed her multiple times across her chest, ear, shoulder, back, and ribs.

The girl fought back, scratching and clawing at Barrie before grabbing a fire extinguisher and striking him with it. She escaped on foot with no shoes or clothes, running through the neighborhood until she found help on Belle Avenue roughly a mile away. Officers found her with multiple stab wounds and a collapsed lung; she was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. Police later recovered her phone, which tracked to Barrie’s location.

Dramatic surveillance footage from the property, which has circulated widely, shows the girl bolting from the home around 8:52 p.m. The homeowner, who was out of the country at the time, confirmed Barrie had been renting the basement and had returned to the property one or two months earlier after time in New York.

DHS officials said Barrie illegally entered the United States through Arizona in December 2023, was encountered by U.S. Border Patrol, and was released into the country by the Biden administration. In July 2026, he was arrested by the New York Police Department on a charge of third-degree possession of a forged instrument. ICE placed a detainer, but New York officials did not honor it and released him—just three months before the Baltimore attack.

“This illegal alien is charged with attempted murder and kidnapping after he allegedly stabbed a 15-year-old girl,” DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in a statement. “This tragedy would never have happened were it not for the multiple failures of sanctuary policies. First, Biden’s open borders let this monster into our country, then sanctuary politicians in New York refused to hand him over to ICE and released him after a previous arrest three months before this horrific crime.”

ICE has urged Baltimore authorities to honor the current detainer. Barrie’s next court date is scheduled for late November. The case has drawn renewed scrutiny of sanctuary policies and the handling of illegal immigrants with prior encounters by federal immigration authorities.
