Afghan security forces defuse a suicide bomber's explosive vest while he is still wearing it, preventing an attack on cricketers in Jalalabad. Provincial police chief Mohammad Sharif Amin reported that the man carrying a suicide bomb was walking near young people playing cricket and was stopped by security forces. "The suicide bomber was trying to reach the crowd of youths playing cricket, the bomber was spotted looking suspicious by the Afghan intelligence department," said Amin. "He was arrested with his gun and his vest. The bomber is a citizen of Pakistan and is under investigation." Nearly 300 Afghan police and soldiers have been killed just in the month of June; an increase in casualties among the Afghan forces taking over security from foreign troops. Combat troops from NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) are preparing to leave Afghanistan by the end of next year, ending a costly and increasingly unpopular war.
