California military jet crash Imperial Valley crash 2014 Military Plane Crashes in Imperial Valley Military Plane Crash In Imperial Valley Military Jet Crashes into Residential Area in Imperial Valley Calif First Video A military plane crashed into an Imperial Valley neighborhood about two hours southeast of San Diego County Wednesday afternoon, officials confirmed. According to officials from California Highway Patrol El Centro, the plane crashed in a residential area at Cross Road and Fonzie Avenue in Imperial, Calif., near the U.S.-Mexico border. One house caught fire as a result of the crash, and two to three additional homes were also impacted, officials said. Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar also tweeted that the aircraft impacted civilian structures, adding that the pilot was able to safely eject from the Harrier jet. MCAS Miramar said the Third Marine Aircraft Wing AV-8B Harrier was stationed at MCAS Yuma and crashed around 4:20 p.m. The pilot was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, base officials said. For now, there is no word on injuries to civilians. Base officials said authorities are on scene and the damage is being assessed. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the crash.
