A 78-year-old great-grandfather had stopped to get gas on his way to work in San Bernardino early one late-June morning when he was violently attacked by two armed men who emptied his pockets as he lay unconscious. John Faust spent four days in the hospital for a broken nose, concussion and bleeding on the brain, and police are hoping newly released surveillance video can help them catch whoever did this to him. “It’s the lowest of low,” said Lt. Rich Lawhead of the San Bernardino Police Department. “They didn’t appear to be nervous in any way, shape or form. And they’re only going to get more and more brazen. Eventually, somebody’s going to get killed.”
