CNN's "Reliable Sources" host and senior media correspondent Brian Stelter admitted on Monday that he didn't correct young gun control activist David Hogg on his show.

In an "S.E. Cupp Unfiltered" interview transcribed by Newsbusters, host S.E. Cupp asked Stelter about the media's habit of boosting students pushing gun control in the wake of the Parkland, Florida school shotting.

"Brian, we as a business have been giving these kids a lot of coverage. All the networks have in some way or another," Cupp said.

Cupp went on to note that the students' emotional appeals have taken priority over discussing gun policy, given that it is "boring."

"Gun policy is boring, it doesn't get a lot of TV coverage. It shouldn't, it's boring, I understand that," she said.

Cupp wondered, however, if the focus on the kids would ultimately be unhelpful, noting policy is what will create change on the issue.

"Do you think in showing these kids so often, as often as we all do, we're doing actually them a disservice because the policy is actually what's going to change this?" she asked.

"A disservice is a strong word, but when I was interviewing David Hogg only ten days after the massacre, there were a few times I wanted to jump in and say ‘let's correct that fact,'" Stelter said.

He said there is always, in any given interview, a balance of how many times to interrupt to fact check.

"And at one of the times I did and other times I did not. There's always that balance, how many times you’re going to interrupt," Stelter said.
