Bronx students received a surprise of a lifetime when Harlem Globetrotters icon Curly Neal joined current stars of the team Handles Franklin and TNT Maddox. Fifty kids from Greek American Institute were invited to Madame Tussauds New York to be the first to see a new Globetrotters “display” to celebrate the team’s 90th year. Instead, the real Curly, Handles, and TNT posed as wax figures and came to life in true Globetrotters fashion – with tricks, ball spins, and smiles. Curly, who starred on the Globetrotters from 1963 to 1985, remains active with the organization as an ambassador. As part of their world tour that will celebrate 90 years, the Globetrotters will play a total of 11 games in the NYC area from Dec. 27 to Jan. 3, including three games at The Garden, plus games in Brooklyn, Newark, White Plains, Hofstra, and Rutgers. Ticket information and the NYC area schedule are available at www.harlemglobetrotters.com/nyc.
