July 03, 2016 - China finally completed the construction of the world's largest radio telescope. The Five-hundred-metre Aperture Spherical Telescope, or FAST, is the size of 30 football fields. The construction of the project started in 2011 and cost almost 180 million dollars. The purpose of this telescope is to search for intelligent life, even outside of the Milky galaxy. It will also be used to study astronomical objects that emit radio signals. China has stepped up its investments on space exploration projects in recent years and even plans to send a man to moon by 2036.
