Police reported that one person has been shot during the protest. In a statement, Portland police stated that suspected shooter was a motorist who had been in a vehicle when a confrontation with a protester began. The victim was treated at the scene before being taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The demonstration began peacefully but soon descended into violence with police scuffling with marchers, and deploying teargas, as well as pepper spray, in an attempt to disperse the crowd.
