The PSA was produced by Sandy Hook Promise, a non-profit tied to several parents of children murdered in the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting. This video in particular is meant to encourage people to spot the possible “warning signs” of a school shooting, so that a potential shooter can be identified before they violently act out.
Although surprising, this isn’t even close to the strangest PSA ever produced. In 2010, the anti-climate change group 10:10 produced the infamous “No Pressure,” which showcased the extremely violent murder of numerous people, including children, who declined to take action to curb climate change. The ad was pulled after a single day of extremely hostile reception.
The reception toward “Evan” isn’t immediately clear, as Sandy Hook Promise has disabled both ratings and comments on the video’s YouTube page.
