General Mohayedin Ghori, commander of the ANA 207th Zafar Corps in western Afghanistan, was killed on November 29, 2016 when the Mil Mi-17 helicopter he was on board crashed in the Muri Chaq area of Bala Murghab district in Badghis province. Seven other people on board were also reported injured.
While the Taliban originally claimed they shot down the helicopter, Afghan officials said there was no hostile fire in the area at the time and that tail rotor failure was the cause of the crash.
