Rap star Kanye West shocked everyone when he visited Trump Tower in New York City on Tuesday morning.
West reportedly had a 15-minute sit-down meeting with President-elect Donald Trump. The rapper’s visit came moments after Trump announced that he was nominating ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson for secretary of state.
The Daily Beast‘s John Avalon called the meeting with West a “shiny object” to distract from Tillerson’s nomination and said that the rapper’s appearance would dominate the news cycle for the day. Host Carol Costello said that it would not happen on CNN.
CNN proceeded to talk about West’s appearance across its broadcasts 22 more times.
