The six pit crew members allowed over the wall during a pit stop are trusted to get the car in and out with new tires and gas in a matter of seconds. But there’s obviously a bit of a risk handling heavy equipment as cars come flying down pit road.
Sunday at the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, Chris Buescher was headed in for a pit stop and was hit by rookie Erik Jones’ No. 77, sending the No. 37 car spinning into his pit stall. The car plowed into jackman Zack Young, who’s relatively OK, all things considered.
