An auxiliary police officer, bearing great pain after being stabbed, showed no sign of giving up when he captured a drug addict in Yizhou City in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Sunday.
Amateur video footage showed that Chen Haimin, the police officer in black shirt, subduing a drug addict, surname Wei, whose white shirt was stained with Chen's blood after stabbing him in the chest with a knife.
Chen waited until backup arrived and was still able to shove Wei into police vehicle.
Doctors said that Chen, when transferred to the hospital, was in serious condition. Medical checks proved that his left ventricle had a 0.5 millimeter fan-shaped cut, badly threatening his life.
Due to timely medical treatment, Chen is now in stable condition.
"I didn't feel stabbed, only something pressing up against me. Wasn't until bringing him under control that I found that he had a knife with him and I looked down at my chest, full of blood there," said Chen with Beishan Police Station.
"I felt my strength was draining away but still struggled to keep him under control. When the police car arrived, I didn't have a second thought besides bringing him into the car," said Chen.
Wei has been placed under arrest and investigation on the case is still under way.
