Dramatic footage has captured the moment armed robbers pointed a gun at a fearless shopkeeper who refused to hand over cash when they raided his post office.
Father-of-two Bipin Patel then chased the trio of balaclava-wearing thieves down the street after they fled when he managed to press a security alarm.
The 54-year-old sprinted after the gang before he lost them by a residential home near his post office in Ecton Brook, Northampton.
He had been serving customers when the three would-be robbers sprinted into the store and demanded he hand over money.
But instead of giving them the takings, Mr Patel ducked to the floor and managed to press the security alarm.
He has now posted CCTV footage of the raid online where it has been viewed by over 100,000 people.
Mr Patel, who has run the shop for more than 30 years, said he was serving customers as normal when the men 'burst in' at around 11am on May 2 at pointed a gun to his head.
He added: 'They came in like a rocket through the front door shouting "give me your money".
'But I just said "no you are not getting away with this".
'I pressed the button (the shop alarm) and when they heard that they just ran.
'I thought "this is my livelihood, I'm not having that" so I went after them.'
Mr Patel said he couldn't describe what was going through his mind when he saw one robber waving a gun at him.
He added: 'I don't hang about, me.
'I wasn't even thinking whether he was gong to shoot. I didn't give a monkey's.
'These guys are idiots, they could have knives on them, all sorts.
'So I just did my best to catch them. Two of them were shorter than me, I probably could have tackled them.'
It is not the first time Mr Patel has chased off a gang of would-be robbers, having done the same back in the 1990s.
He added: 'I don't mess about, me. I'm quick and fast, I try and catch everyone.'
Since the latest incident, Mr Patel has been inundated with praise from his customers - who call him 'dad' because of how popular he is in the community.
Writing on Facebook, Shelley Humphries said: 'Hope they find them... I can't believe you chased them Bipin, what a shock.'
Detectives from Northamptonshire Police are appealing for witnesses to the attempted robbery.
