Shocking moment pensioner is dragged by a moving escalator by the HEAD after taking a tumble

This is the shocking moment a pensioner is dragged along by their head on a moving escalator in China.
The horrifying incident took place on May 7 at an exit of Nanning City's subway line one.
Thankfully the elderly woman was saved by quick thinking passersby and taken to hospital.
In the footage posted on Kankan news, a middle aged woman can be seen helping an elderly man on the escalators.
The pensioner appears to wobble on the moving stairway.
All of a sudden, he starts to fall, bringing the woman with him.
The man's hair is caught by the machine and he is then dragged along by it.
An onlooker rushes up the escalator to try and pull the man free while another onlooker manages to stop it by pushing the emergency button.
The footage then cuts to the pensioner being rescued by paramedics and put into a wheelchair.
He was later taken to hospital and treated for his injuries.
