Footage has emerged of an AFL fan being violently subdued and held to the ground by several security staff during the Adelaide Crows and Melbourne Demons match at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon.
Melbourne resident Anthony Reid, 33, was enjoying a 'relaxing afternoon' with friends before being 'grabbed and dragged' by guards.
Reid says he was not causing any trouble and was targeted 'for no reason'.
He then screams 'I can't f****** breathe' as police and security attempt to tie his hands.
People can be heard trying to reason with police as Mr Reid continues to scream in agony on the floor.
An indignant Mr Reid then yells for someone to get his shoes as he is led out of the stadium, surrounded by a number of police and security.
He told The Advertiser a security guard initially told him to 'take a walk' and that they had been 'watching him on the cameras.'
Mr Reid believes he was unfairly treated because he was supporting the away team, the Melbourne Demons, and that people around him lost patience when the home side started losing.
'I could understand it if I was being anti-social or I’d started a fight, and obviously they have the power to remove people.
But I want to know if they’re allowed to do it for no reason, or without justification, because it feels like it happened just because I was supporting the other team.'
He says he blew 0.08 on a breathalyser after being escorted from the stadium and was then released by police.
Mr Reid says he does not have an issue with the police but is unhappy with the conduct of the stadium staff.
'The police released me without filing charges and I’ve got no complaint against them, my complaint is against Oval staff.'
Despite the incident, the proud Dees fan was able to keep everything in perspective.
'The thing I’m most upset about is missing the football.
I missed out on Melbourne having a win, and that doesn’t happen all that often.'
Daily Mail Australia has reached out to the Adelaide Oval for comment.
