Former vice president, failed presidential candidate, and environmental activist Al Gore claimed on CNN on Sunday that he lives a “carbon-free lifestyle.”
Asked to respond to President Trump’s election-year criticism of Al Gore for using private jets, Gore denied the claim to Jake Tapper.
“Well, I don’t have a private jet,” Gore said. “What the carbon emissions come from, my trips on Southwest Airlines are offset.”
“I live a carbon-free lifestyle to the maximum extent possible,” Gore claimed.
While Gore’s claim that he does not own a private jet may be technically true, the fact remains that Gore used a private company jet to promote his climate change film, “An Inconvenient Truth,” in the 2000s.
Moreover, according to Tapper’s own reporting from 2007, Gore racked up a $30,000 utility bill in 2006.
