Another pointless viral internet challenge is taking over. It originated 25 years ago when I was in elementary school. The point of the challenge is to surprise a friend by saying “floors hot lava” and in a matter of seconds they need to find a way to get their feet off the ground to avoid the fake hot lava. It has led to multiple videos of people vandalizing store and other peoples property to play the childish challenge and do whatever it takes to get their feet off the ground.
As I watch from the comfort of my own computer I shake my head at how stupid these “challenges” are. At first it was the ice bucket challenge which actually had a great purpose. This is usually how these viral type things go. Someone does something good like the ice bucket challenge and then it turns into youth trying to come up with their own slick and cool challenges. As I sit here shaking my head at these dumb challenges a video like this comes along.
The video is short but a group of friends were walking on a bridge of all things. The person filming yells out “floors hot lava” and the friends being filmed scramble to safety to avoid the ground. Well on the bridge there aren’t many objects to use to avoid the ground besides the guardrail. So two girls without thinking jump onto the guardrail with one falling completely over.
Now with it being a bridge you would think there was water under and she just landed in the water. NOPE WRONG. She lands on a set up stairs leading up to the bridge. From my view point it looks like she may have busted an ankle or two but ended up being find. As stupid as these challenges are I am glad she wasn’t killed and hopefully it’s a lesson to all these clowns doing these stupid challenges.
