Terrified pedestrians run for their lives as man, 34, 'mounts the footpath in the centre of Melbourne and crashes into buildings

A man allegedly mounted several footpaths in Melbourne with his white Honda SUV overnight in a rampage that sent terrified pedestrians running and narrowly missing a homeless person.
The 34-year-old allegedly drove his car onto the footpath on Swanston Street at 11pm going around 60km before crashing into three businesses - including the Crown Casino.
Footage shows pedestrians yelling and frantically dodging the car as it hurtled toward a Commonwealth Bank and smashed into its glass doors, according to 7News.
'Get out, get out,' a man can be heard screaming at the crowd of people on the busy street.
The driver allegedly then rammed into the front of an ANZ bank 50 metres further up Swanston Street before driving down the footpath to Collins Street.
A witness said the driver almost hit a homeless person sitting in the area. There have not been any reports of injury yet.
Once on Collins Street, the man allegedly drove his car into the Crown Casino basement carpark and crashed into the foyer.
He reportedly fled on foot and ran through the gaming room before he was arrested by police.
The 34-year-old was taken to hospital for an assessment but has not been charged.
It comes just a week after the city placed concrete bollards in Bourke Street Mall to prevent cars from being able to drive up onto the pedestrian area.
In January six people were killed when Melbourne man Dimitrious Gargasoulas allegedly drove onto the footpath near Bourke Street Mall in his car.
