A man accused of abusing a young girl was shaved, thrashed and beaten in the street by an angry mob.
The mother of the alleged victim said that the suspect, Mr Balbhadra, tried to rape her daughter outside her home in Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh, northern India.
She then claimed that he attempted to kidnap her.
The mum said: "My daughter was playing outside the house when Balbhadra tried to molest her."
But the young girl, whose age was not reported, reportedly raised the alarm and passersby rushed to her aid.
