This is the terrifying moment a police car racing to a crime scene smashed into a deer at 100mph.
The animal suddenly ran out of a ditch in Minnesota, as the driver had his lights and sirens on, causing a head-on crash.
Incredibly the deputy at the wheel, John McCarty, walked away from the crash with just minor bruises - but pictures of the aftermath showing the horrifying wreckage of his squad car indicate he was lucky.
Dashcam footage shows the deer run out in front of him, and experts believe that his decision not to swerve saved the officer's life.
The Isanti County sheriff's office said the car could have rolled if he attempted to veer away from the animal.
