The president wants to protect Americans from foreign threats.
President Trump told members of the press that he was ending the diversity lottery program, which allowed the October 31 New York terrorist to enter the United States, at a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
“I am today starting the process of terminating the diversity lottery program,” the president told the room. “I am going to ask Congress to immediately initiate work to get rid of this program.”
“Sounds nice. It’s not nice. It’s not good,” he said of the program.
Trump said that our immigration system should employ a “merit-based system” that would bring immigrants into the country based on their professional qualifications.
The president also called for the end of chain migration, which allowed the New York terrorist to bring into the country 23 other immigrants.
