A tired lorry driver caused a fatal six-car collision after becoming distracted by his mobile phone and not noticing stationary traffic for 23 seconds.
Horrific footage shows the moment Dorel-Sidor Galan, 38, of London Road, Grays, Essex, hit a line of cars on the A1, near Newark, killing council worker Ian Newell, from Grantham.
Galan was nine minutes into 11-minute voice call at the time of the collision and did not break or do anything to avoid it happen. The day before the crash he was on his phone 97% of the time.
He appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on November 2 where he admitted causing death by dangerous driving, reports the Lincolnshire Echo , and was jailed for five years and three months.
