A suspected terrorist knifeman has been shot after launching a frenzied attack on two police officers at a train station.
Shocking CCTV footage shows the two officers standing on a platform when a man who appears to be wandering past suddenly turns and lunges towards them.
The first officer, who looks unarmed, falls back under the onslaught in southern Russia and the knifeman then turns his attention to the other officer.
He just has enough time to ready the rifle slung over his shoulder before the attacker gets to him.
The knifeman's wild stab misses and the officer and buys him enough time to aim his weapon.
When the knifeman runs at him again the officer shoots him, and he then veers away.
The officer fires at least once more, as the knife attacker walks erratically a few feet away then drops to the ground.
He was arrested and found to be injured in the arm and hip.
The suspect was later identified as Zagid Gazmatov, 29, said to be a supporter of terrorist E Dudaev, who had been killed a short time before in a special operation.
It was not clear which terrorist group Dudaev was a part of or what cause he was fighting for.
Mr Gazmatov remains in hospital under military supervision in the town of Kizilyurt in south-western Russia.
Local media report that Mr Gazmatov's flat had been searched shortly before the attack and found to contain a hand grenade and other weapons.
It was also reported that he was suspected to have two accomplices but no details about them were available.
Neither of the officers was named in reports.
One is said to be recovering in hospital from unspecified injuries.
