This is the horrific moment an arsonist poured petrol through a pensioner's window before hurling a flaming rag at him to leave him engulfed in flames.
Terrifying CCTV footage captures Daniel McCardle firebombing Salius Price's home, which left the traumatised 71-year-old with permanent scars.
The elderly man was placed in an induced coma after 30 per cent of his body was covered in burns while his property was completely destroyed.
The video shows McCardle, 28, pouring petrol from a five-litre drum into the living room via a smashed window as the victim desperately tries to push him away.
The thug then grabs a lit rag which is flung at the elderly man and immediately bursts into flames.
The 71-year-old was left permanently scarred after flames engulfed him from his waist to his head as desperate relatives tried to douse the fire.
McCardle is then seen leaving the scene in the car as the fierce blaze quickly spreads throughout the home.
Yesterday, McCardle was jailed for 10 years at Newcastle Crown Court after he admitted causing GBH with intent and arson with intent to endanger life.
