Five people have died as a small plane carrying family members on the way to Christmas celebrations crashed on the runway.
The Cessna 340 crashed shortly after take off at the Bartow Municipal Airport in Florida yesterday morning.
According to the Press Association, the 70 year old pilot and his four passengers were killed immediately.
The New York Times have named the pilot as John H Shannon and said two of his daughters were among the victims.
According to reports, his daughters Olivia Shannon, 24, and Victoria Shannon Worthington, 26, lost their lives in the Christmas Eve tragedy.
Also among the dead were Shannon's husband, Peter Worthington, 27, reports say.
