This is the horrendous moment a couple trapped in their car were swept to their deaths in a raging flash flood .
In upsetting footage, onlookers can be heard crying out in anguish at being unable to help the stricken pair as the car is dragged underwater and flips over.
"All we could do was watch them wash away," one said.
The clip shows the vehicle being dragged by powerful floodwaters before vanishing from view as the swollen stream gushes over a residential street in Brazil.
The body of Joao Carlos Haskel, 59, who was driving was found nearly eight hours later, more than a quarter-of-a-mile from where it was sucked in.
