A Southwest Airlines plane has been forced to make an emergency landing after a window was blown out, it has been claimed.
Photographs of a smashed window emerged as reports claimed the Southwest Flight 957 from Midway, Chicago, to Newark this morning had to land in Cleveland, Ohio.
A video shows travellers being told to get off the plane with their belongings and board another aircraft.
A spokesperson from the FAA told CNN the plane had landed safely in Cleveland, after a report of an issue with a window.
The airline told CBS Chicago the plane had decided to land in Cleveland “for maintenance review of one of the multiple layers of a window plane.”
Southwest Airlines' statement continued: “The aircraft has been taken out of service for maintenance review, and our local Cleveland employees are working diligently to accommodate the 76 customers on a new aircraft to Newark."
The flight was reportedly diverted two hours into the journey, just before 11am.
