A bungling robber ended up covered in chilli powder during a botched knife raid, as the shopkeepers fought back.
The inept thief was battered with a ladder, a mobility grabber, an advertising sign and had the spicy condiment thrown on him after he tried to hold up a local newsagents with a large kitchen blade.
He then nearly stabbed his own backside with the weapon as he tried to make off with the loot on a bicycle, the Daily Record reported.
