A man was airlifted to hospital with severe head injuries after getting crushed by a gigantic ball at a Spanish festival.
The reveller was hit by the 550lb resin ball at the bizarre event in Mataelpino near Madrid, which sees competitors trying to outrun the heavy boulders.
The incident happened just before 12.30pm on Sunday on the second day’s run, near the end of the 1,640ft downhill course.
A witness said the giant ball hit the injured man in the face after bouncing off the fence.
A spokesman for an emergency services coordination centre covering the Madrid region confirmed: “The injured man is 29 and was run over by the ball at the entrance to the bullring.
