Police in Oklahoma have launched an appeal to help identify a thief who stole an SUV from a car wash last week, as the owner of the vehicle was vacuuming it.
The footage, captured on CCTV, documents a man in a hooded sweatshirt and baseball cap casually strolling through the Freedom Car Wash on Harvard Avenue, Tulsa, on April 24.
Pulling his cap down over his eyes, as the car’s owner crouches down to vacuum the well of the passenger-side door, the man sneaks around the SUV, evading the watch of a man attending to the exterior of the vehicle.
The suspect then opens the driver’s door and leaps into the front-seat, causing the owner to jolt in fear as the car begins to reverse.
