ABILENE, Texas (KTXS) - Abilene police said the stabbing that landed two students in the hospital started as a dispute as far back as last school year.
According to Police Chief Stan Standridge, the suspect, 16, and the "primary victim," who's 15, agreed to fight each other.
Standridge said two friends came with the victim -- including the person who shot video that is circulating on social media.
What the "primary victim" did not know is the suspect was armed with a knife.
Standridge said the weapon was contained within the suspect's hand -- like brass knuckles -- only it had a 4-6" long sharp object attached to it.
The suspect punched the primary victim, causing "four to five punctures/slashes."
The second victim was then stabbed in the upper torso causing serious bodily injury.
The suspect was arrested at his home and charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
Dr. David Young said both victims -- who are 15-years-old -- are in stable condition.
"Our hearts and our prayers go out to them and their families," said Young.
