PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police declared a protest outside its East Precinct on Southeast 106th Avenue a riot late Wednesday night and said an explosive device may have been left outside the building.
The area around the unknown device was cleared and was later determined to not be an explosive.
Officers ordered protesters to leave the area at around 10 p.m. Police said those who stay may be cited, arrested or have crowd control agents used against them, including tear gas.
Early Thursday, Portland Police released an update that heavy rocks and water balloons full of paint were thrown at police, some hitting officers, as they attempted to disperse the group eastbound.
