Italian police have published details of a hostage-taking in the Milan Cathedral and the operation to arrest the attacker.
On Wednesday, an unknown young man broke through the control at the entrance to the Duomo and, threatening with a knife, took hostage one of the guards of the main attractions of the city. In the media, the offender was described originally from North Africa.
According to police, a 26-year-old citizen of Egypt entered the fight with a security guard who tried to intercept him.
In the published video shows a young man brandishing a small knife at one of the walls of the Cathedral in the corner formed by the cab confessionals. On the floor in front of him sits a guard, whom the attacker holds the left hand.
The video shows a few arrived at the police, who called the attacker "Cristiano" and get him to calm down. In one scene of the movie in dialogue with the invader mounted policewoman – she removed the belt with pouches and weapons. At some point, one of the police officers pounced on armed with a knifeman, and then to the rescue of a colleague coming to the other law enforcement officers. According to local media, the whole incident took about 10 minutes.
At the police station, an Egyptian arrested on charges of capturing people and resistance official. It turned out that the man has a residence permit in Italy, and already had problems with the law. The case involved a special unit of the Interior Ministry and Prosecutor of the anti-terrorism department of the Milan Prosecutor, said the police.
