Podcaster Hilaria Baldwin has defended herself against claims that she “faked” her Spanish heritage.
The yoga instructor, 36, and wife of actor Alec Baldwin has been accused of cultural appropriation after questions were raised over her Hispanic roots.
The social media backlash began on December 21 when a Twitter user wrote: “You have to admire Hilaria Baldwin's commitment to her decade long grift where she impersonates a Spanish person”.
The controversy centers on accusations that Baldwin has adopted a pseudo accent, notably in an appearance on the Today show in which she seems to forget the English word for cucumber, despite being born and raised in Boston.
